If the surface absorbs the Polytrol unevenly (i.e. some matte and some shiny patches) move any surplus oil from shiny areas to matte areas. Do not allow excess Polytrol to dry and create a film on the surface (always remove excess product). Do I have to remove all previous finishes/treatments before applying Polytrol?

You can use Dilunett to remove the previous orange-brown coating, however, Dilunett is powerful enough to remove up to 8 coats of paint in one application, so any other coats of paint that lay underneath the new paint will also be removed. Polytrol has a theoretical coverage rate of 18m2 per litre, Actual coverage will vary depending on application method, type, texture and porosity of the surface.

Apply Polytrol using a fine wire wool (000 grade) soaked in Polytrol and allow it to work for 10-20 minutes.
